Apartment Life No More

The idea of home ownership always seemed like a huge hassle to me and something I just couldn’t be bothered to think about. I was perfectly happy renting and having the opportunity to change my address every year (or 6 months) if I liked. As of March 5, I will have lived in Pella for 4 years. In those 4 years, I have moved 5 times. It’s surprising even to me, but I would like to announce that I will be moving my 6th and final time in April! A,B,C… ‘MOM’!

After several days of observation, I’m going to go ahead and give confirmation that Emerson’s first word has been spoken! Last week she was really going at it with the ‘Bbbbbb’ sounds and maybe even accomplished ‘Bob’ a time or two, but officially her first word is…. MOM! I heard it a few times last weekend but thought maybe it was a stretch to move her vocabulary out of the ‘jabber’ category into the ‘first words’ category. After a few days of repeatedly hearing ‘mommm mommm mommm mommm…’ I’m thrilled to say there is no question that she is saying ‘mom’! Even her dad cannot contest to this – his time...

Slow Down, Baby!

Our five month photo shoot was by far the most difficult to date. I did my best to capture the smiles of a roly-poly, energetic baby but most of the pictures were very blurry. She rolls over at the speed of light and can’t stop obsessing over her feet. Several fussy days and sleepless nights convinced us that Emerson was feeling under the weather but a trip to the Doctor proved otherwise. We are so thankful for another month of health and happiness!...

Emerson wakes up happy every day! Saturday she had a relaxing morning, napped with her friends, got dressed up for Everett’s 1-year birthday party and rested up for her first Super Bowl Sunday!  ...
