Go Emme, It’s Your Birthday!

There are just too many awesome things about turning 5! Forget about nap time — you get to start school, your brain is exploding with knowledge, you make new friends, you can refill your cup all by yourself since you can now reach the water dispenser, you invent and create party machines and alphabet games, you make your own sandwiches, animals and art are still your passions, you’re very serious about keeping up with sweeping the leaves off the deck, your self-confidence and independence are growing by the day, but you still love to sneak in bed with me every night for a good snuggle. We celebrated the birthday girl this year with...

3 Years Old and Loving…

Books. Over the summer Dragons Love Tacos was hands down her favorite book. It’s a really fun story with lots of repetition that just begs for her to jump in and finish the sentences for me!  The great part about this book is that I never tire of reading it; the weird sense of humor and zany storytelling are right up my alley. With that in mind, imagine my excitement when I discovered a book by the name of Secret Pizza Party, also written by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri. Check it out on Bookworm.com as it’s the ‘October Book of the Month’ (30% off ain’t bad!)! You can...

Tiptoe Through the Tulips — 19 Months

At 19 months, Emerson loves to play outside and doesn’t come back inside the house without a fight. Thanks to the unseasonably warm weather this year we’ve already racked up several walks to the park, collected all the sticks in our yard (and every other yard on the way to the park), made a few trips around town in the bike trailer with dad, and jogged with mom in the stroller — she’s a great passenger! Going hand-in-hand with the great outdoors, Emerson is deeply fascinated by animals. She has learned to say bird, dog, puppy, kitty, woof, meow, and tweet. We are working at distinguishing dogs from all other...

Natural Healing

Sunday morning we woke up with the sun and went along with Nic to his favorite fishing spot. The scenery was literally picture-perfect and I now understand why he ventures there so often. Emerson and I had fun hiking around, bird-watching, and finding sticks while Bela tore through the grass enjoying every last second of freedom in the wild. If ticks didn’t exist, I would begin every day just like this. ...

What’s In Your Toolbox?

This morning I was greeted with a weekly email from TheBump.com, “Hi Amanda, your baby is 50 weeks old!” How nice of them to keep track of Emerson’s milestones for me. It’s funny how I find comfort in computer-generated newsletters but week after week I look forward to reading them. We’ve come a long way; from poppy-seed to watermelon to newborn to toddler – TheBump was right there with me. Any website that I can look to for insight and experience from other women is worth reading. TheBump isn’t the only website that keeps me on track. In fact, there’s a handful of sites that my scatter brain needs to...
