When your car breaks down while you’re in Iowa City for a wedding and you’re stranded for at least an extra day what happens? You’re forced to slow down, realize it’s August, become nostalgic about your summer and possibly even update your blog. I’m going back-in-time for a summer re-wind to catch this thing up on some of the highlights over the past few months and also to capture everything we’d still like to do before the end of the summer. In the final weekend before Halloween, we squeezed in several fun activities and still made time for plenty of relaxation. Here’s our weekend review in reverse order. Emerson pretty much summed up our afternoon yesterday when she said, “My feet are schfeating (sweating)! I can’t believe I’m saying this… I am too hot outside!” It was the most beautiful day we’ve enjoyed outside for months it seems. Picture time! This year I jumped at the idea of a ‘Back to School’ themed session for Emerson’s three-year pics. It worked out perfectly that this was offered at the same time she’ll be turning three and also starting preschool at Safari (contingent upon potty-training which deserves an entire post in itself).  Going along with the theme, I ordered an adorable preppy outfit online. True to form, I was a little late in doing so, and had to come up with something for her to wear last-minute (outfit arrived in the mail 2 days after her photos were taken).
