Iowa City or Bust

I’ve had a major itch to plan a weekend getaway all winter; now that the weather is beginning to hint at spring the time had come to get out of the house! We had the perfect excuse to visit my sisters in Iowa City this past weekend and made a nice little weekend of it. It’s hard to believe my youngest sister will be graduating from Iowa in a few short months. I couldn’t be prouder that she’s followed in my footsteps as a Graphic Design major! This excites me for many reasons (family business?!) but I have seriously been looking forward to her BFA gallery show for months and...

Christmas 2013: It’s a Wrap!

Before I can truly embrace the new year, I need to officially wrap-up 2013. We ended the year in good company and had a wonderful holiday! I was beyond excited to start a new tradition this year for Emerson and the ‘Great Santa Scavenge’ was born! Incorporating a scavenger hunt with any holiday is always win-win in my opinion! Christmas Eve morning, I hid a series of clues around the house to lead Emerson to a special gift from Santa (she was SUCH a good girl this year he wanted to surprise her a day early). I cannot begin to explain how much fun she had! She tore around the...

Mommy’s Little Flower Keeper

Mary, Mary, quite contrary. How does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockleshells, and pretty maids in a row! My little pumpkin sneaks outside to help Gaga water plants as much as possible. If it’s touching the ground, she’s going to pour water on it. I need to catch it on video because she narrates as she waters, saying things like, “This guy is thirsty!” or “Oh, you need some water too? OK.” It doesn’t do her any justice to type it out because her voice is so cute at this age!...

Circus Review

The circus came to town this weekend and I’ve never seen my mom more excited than when she won tickets from KUOO for the whole family. Emerson woke up several days in a row expressing great excitement towards visiting the Big-Top. Saturday finally arrived and the suspense built right through nap-time and finally peaked as we arrived and she caught her first glance at elephants, ponies, clowns, and a bounce house. It was more than enough stimulation for a two-year old  (at times probably too much). Emerson and I hopped on the back of an elephant as quick as we could! She was amazed by their trunks and how they...

Snow Bunnies

Emme, Gaga, and I busted out of the house Friday for some much-needed fresh air! ...
