Happy Independence Day!

We hope everyone had a fun 4th of July! Perfect weather, family and friends, and backyard games were just a few elements of our holiday. Emerson was outside bouncing and swimming all afternoon and had even more fun once her friend Bremer showed up to play! We grilled, ate a lot of desserts, and finally cuddled up in bed to watch amazing live fireworks  (WAY too tired to fight the crowds in Okoboji). I literally wish every day was the 4th of July – always a favorite holiday!...

It’s Officially Summer

Summertime! It’s finally here and this past week we enjoyed as many summer activities as we could possibly squeeze in. Sunday I took Emerson to the new splash pad in town — judging by the amount of people there, it’s a huge hit. I only had to run through the sprinklers (in my clothes) with her once before she was brave enough to run wild on her own. Emerson was psyched to get her season pass and...

Nabers from all over the country gathered at the Lakes for some excellent meals, fun in the sun, and a competitive cribbage tournament — a Naber tradition! Emerson has been talking about how excited she is to see her cousins for weeks now. When it came right down to it and they all showed up she didn’t quite know what to do! Turns out she’s a shy girl just like her mama. Even so, we had a great time seeing everyone, but I wish I could have been in about 5 places at a time because the weekend...

Anchors Away

I have a soft spot for anything nautical inspired (think stripes, Sperry’s, flags, boats, rope, anchors… everything) so when I saw this adorable dress I knew it was the perfect excuse for a maritime adventure! After leaving it hang in the closet for several months, we finally woke up one Saturday morning and decided it was the day Emerson would become a sailor. The marina on lake Red Rock was the perfect spot to explore on this particular cloudy morning so we began our day hiking down to the water. The docks were lined with majestic sailboats and I attempted to capture my adorable tot admiring each one while gazing...
